College Care Packages
We are once again filling shoes racks for our college students to send lot of goodies, cards, and love to them as they begin the final months of their semester. We have 4 college students we are currently supporting through this ministry: Juiliana Davis, Kaden Pristas, Ashlyn Davis, & Kayla Hayes. You can bring items and fill up the shoe rack in the sanctuary, or place items in the box provided underneath. Our Christian Education Committee will take care of dividing everything out equally into 6 separate shoe racks. If you bring cards, please make sure they have the student’s name on the outside of the envelope. We will collect from March 15th - March 29th, and will distribute them on Easter weekend! On Wednesday, March 25th, at 5 PM, come enjoy dinner together and help us make our traditional palm crosses and prepare for our Palm Sunday worship service.Easter Grave-Cleaning and Flowering
Once again this year the youth and children will be offering their services to help any members, families, or friends of our congregation in the Easter tradition of cleaning graves in God’s Acre. We plan to clean graves on Good Friday, April 3rd, just as we have in years past. We are grateful to Nick Stone who has secured flower availability. This year our flower option is a 6 inch potted Red Geranium ($25 per plant). Each pot will be wrapped with paper and a bow, and if desired, placed upon the grave requested or you may pick them up Good Friday morning at Calvary. Please see the order form available in the narthex to place your order, click here for the form, or you may contact Elaine Peddycord at peddycj@bellsouth.net with questions. If you choose to have us clean the grave and place the flower, simply provide the name(s) and we will locate the grave. Orders must be received by March 22nd in order to confirm numbers with the nursery. Additionally, please let us know if you plan to pick up your flower from God’s Acre after Easter.
Bagging Up Blessings for Sunnyside Ministry
During Lent, Calvary will be collecting non-perishable food for Sunnyside Ministry. Please grab a bag to fill from the Narthex or West Lobby and bring them back the week of March 22nd. We will coordinate delivery to Sunnyside. Last year, participating churches helped collect more than 15,000 pounds of food during Lent, and together we are hopeful to exceed that milestone again. With back-to-back winter storms, rising food costs, and increased demand at the pantry, the need for this support will be especially critical in the community.
Opportunity for Community & Prayer
Virtual prayer meetings will be offered on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, at 9:00 AM via Zoom. There will be no prayer meeting on March 24th. The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 14th. This Zoom prayer time will last about 15 minutes, and gives us an additional opportunity to check in and share the people and things that we hold in our hearts.
