Lenten Wednesday Night Program
On April 2nd, we will have our next Lenten Wednesday evening program! Dinner will be served at 5 PM and provided by Circle 1. Then at 6, the different age groups will split off for the special programming. Adults will have Lenten Reflections with Pastor Chaz. Jan Bullins will be spinning wool with the youth in fellowship hall and the children will be playing games and making crafts in the younger elementary classroom. We hope you’ll join us for this Lenten journey!
Grave Decoration on April 19th
Everyone is invited to help decorate graves at God’s Acre on Saturday, April 19th, beginning at 9:30 AM. For over 100 years, the churches of the Salem Congregation have been decorating the oldest graves at God’s Acre in preparation for the Easter Sunrise Service. Many of our fellow brothers and sisters buried in these graves no longer have family who can place flowers for Easter morning. We invite everyone—children, youth, young adults, and those young at heart to help us keep this tradition alive. Many hands make light work. We hope that this will take no longer than an hour with your helping hands. If you have fresh-cut flowers, flowering shrubs, or greenery that you can donate, please bring them to the church between Wednesday and Friday of Holy Week and place them in the buckets outside the church office. If you are planning to help decorate, you can bring them with you Saturday morning to God’s Acre. Remember to bring your gloves and clippers to help make quick work of our decorating. If you have any questions, contact Ginni Baker at (919) 649-3808.
Graduate Recognition Sunday
On Sunday, May 18th, we will observe our Graduate Recognition Day. On this special day of worship, we will be acknowledging all those who have completed the major milestone of graduation from high school, college, or graduate school. By May 9th, please email Jacob (jacob@calvarymoravian.org) and let us know of anyone in your family who will be graduating from high school, college, or graduate school. This will give us the opportunity to announce graduate information in our church publications, including the bulletin and our newsletters. In addition to the names of graduates, please provide school/college information, graduation date, and any future plans for the students following graduation. We look forward to acknowledging and congratulating all our graduates!
Winter Church Council
Winter Church Council will be held Sunday, May 4th, following worship.
During council, the congregation will receive reports from the previous year
including a financial report and reports from the Joint Board, Elders, and
Trustees. All resident communicant members are encouraged to attend this
important meeting

Lenten Food Drive for Sunnyside
"For I was hungry and you gave me food..." – Matthew 25:35
This Lent, let’s turn sacrifice into service! Instead of just giving something up, why not give back? Donate a bag of non-perishable groceries, a few items, or even a single can to help those in need. Sunnyside has requested pop-top style cans and would love cans of corn & green beans for their food pantry, but all donations are welcome! You can drop off your donations in the West lobby, first-floor stairwell, or the Narthex in the provided boxes. Let’s make a difference together!
The Next Breakfast Bunch
April 1st, 9 AM at Carriage House. Please contact Pat George (336) 971-3429 or Linda Smith (336) 978-6082 to RSVP.
Opportunity for Community & Prayer
Virtual prayer meetings are offered on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, at 9:00 AM via Zoom. The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 8th. We will pray for ourselves, for those on our prayer list, and for our church and world. This Zoom prayer time will last about 15 minutes, and gives us an additional opportunity to check in and share the people and things that we hold in our hearts. Confidentiality will be an essential part of these times together; when talking with someone else about the prayer time, it’s OK to say what you yourself shared, but not OK to say what anyone else shared. The link to join the meeting is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81364100880
I look forward to sharing prayer with you! – Pastor Nola
Lenten Home Communion
Lent is a holy season of introspection, spiritual growth, and closeness to God and to our brothers and sisters in the family of God. In this holy time, Pastor Nola will come to you with communion at home during Lent if you wish. Please contact her directly (nola@calvarymoravian.org), or the church office, to schedule a visit!
Easter Grave-cleaning and Flowering
Once again this year the youth and children will be offering their services to help any members, families, or friends of our congregation in the Easter tradition of cleaning graves in God’s Acre. We plan to clean graves on Good Friday, April 18th, just as we have in years past. We are grateful to Nick Stone who has secured flower availability. This year our flower option is a 6 inch potted Red Geranium ($25 per plant). Each pot will be wrapped with paper and a bow, and if desired, placed upon the grave requested or you may pick them up Good Friday morning at Calvary. Please see the order form available in the narthex or at the link below to place your order, or you may contact Elaine Peddycord at peddycj@bellsouth.net with questions. If you choose to have us clean the grave and place the flower, simply provide the name(s) and we will locate the grave. Orders must be received by April 6th in order to confirm numbers with the nursery. Additionally, please let us know if you plan to pick up your flower from God’s Acre after Easter.
