Amanda and Chaz will be out of the office attending the MMA retreat from September 24th through 28th and will return to worship on October 1st.
2023 CROP Walk
The 2023 WS/FC CROP Hunger Walk is scheduled for Sunday, October 15th, and Calvary is going walking! The plan is to have lunch after worship and walk over to Corpening Plaza on First Street for registration at 1:30 PM. The walk begins at 2:30 PM, is approximately 1 1/2 miles in length, and is great for all ages. If you would like to join our team or make a donation to support this ministry, please see any member of our Missions Committee or Amanda Schumpert (amanda@calvarymoravian.org). Thanks for walking with us and our community to help end hunger, one step at a time!
Holly-ween Trunk or Treat
Put on your costumes and head over to Holly Ave for Holly-ween! on Saturday, October 28th from 10:30 AM-12 PM. We'll start with an author story-time gathering at Bookmarks with Ashley Belot and her new children's book: Witch and Wombat. Then, travel over to our front lawn for some slime-making fun, a cake walk, pumpkin painting, and Trunk-Or-Treat around our driveway. The plan is to follow the “Wombat-Trail” across Holly Ave and down the sidewalk to make sure you hit all the good stuff. We will have an off-duty police officer helping make sure travel across the street is safe. We need 20 cars for the Trunk-or-Treat! Please see Amanda Schumpert if you are willing to come help make this a joy-filled, safe morning for our kids and the community.
Service of Remembrance & Memorial Walk
October 19th, 5:30 pm or 6:30 pm
Please join Trellis Supportive Care at their facility (101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem) for a special remembrance program and memorial luminaria walk – a time to remember loved ones, to acknowledge grief, and to honor you with care and support. Robert Stafford will be among those memorialized with a luminary. Please attend the service at the time that works best for you. The Memorial Walk will open at 5:30 pm and be available to you following both services, until 7:30 pm
Volunteer Opportunity
We are in search of a volunteer for the role of Assistant Treasurer. This individual will collaborate with the treasurer on financial approvals. They will also be a member of the finance committee, whose members support the management of Calvary’s financial operations at the request of the trustees. If you are interested in supporting Calvary’s financial success through the donation of your time please let us know! You can reach out to Chi Chi Messick, our treasurer, at treasurer@calvarymoravian.org, for additional information, or to express your interest in the role.
Sunday Livestream Volunteers Needed
The Sunday morning livestream crew is in need of further help and volunteers for this vital ministry of our congregation. If you would like to be included in this volunteer rotation, please see Spencer Bullins, Frank Martin, or Amanda Schumpert, and we’ll get you on the list and trained as soon as possible.
