A list of pre-orders (pie numbers and total due) is hanging on the freezer door. If you did not have a chance to pre-order a pie before orders filled up but are interested in being contacted if there are extras (there might be a few extra small pies), please call Lydia Ingram and let her know: (210) 882-0241.
Laurel Ridge Workday
On April 15, Laurel Ridge needs our help! Beginning at 9am that morning, we are asked to gather on the mountain for their Spring Work Day! We have a cabin that we sponsored in years past that needs some painting and the whole camp needs a spring cleaning as they get ready to welcome this year’s campers! Contact Blair Osborne (blair@laurelridge.org) for more information or you can see Linda Seippel for details as well!
Musical Guests Palm Sunday
On Palm Sunday, April 2nd, we will be joined in worship by our community partners, the Piedmont Youth Chorus. They will sing alongside our children and adult choirs in our various musical offerings that morning.
Easter Grave-Cleaning & Flowering
Orders are due by this Sunday!
Once again this year the youth and children will be offering their services to help any members, families, or friends of our congregation in the Easter tradition of cleaning graves in God’s Acre. We plan to clean graves on Good Friday, April 7, just as we have in years past. We are grateful to Nick Stone who has secured flower availability. This year our flower option is a 6 inch potted Red Geranium ($25 per plant) Each pot will be wrapped with paper and a bow, and if desired, placed upon the grave requested or you may pick them up Good Friday morning at Calvary. If you choose to have us clean the grave and place the flower, simply provide the name(s) below and we will locate the grave. Additionally, please let us know if you plan to pick up your flower from God’s Acre after Easter. Please see the order form at the top of this email, in the narthex, or you may contact Elaine Peddycord at peddycj@bellsouth.net with questions. Orders must be received by this Sunday, March 26th, in order to confirm numbers with the nursery.
Moravian Music Foundation Recital
On Friday, May 12, 2023 at 7:00 PM at the Old Salem Visitor Center in Winston-Salem, there will be a concert featuring both the 1800 organ and the Moramus Chorale. The music will celebrate the unique approach of early Moravians to music, organ music, and congregational singing. Cristy Lynn Brown is the featured vocalist for this concert. Susan Bates and Mary Louise Kapp Peeples are the featured organ soloists. Tickets will be available at moravianmusic.org.
Great Sabbath Service
This year the service will be on Saturday, April 8 at 7:00 PM at Home Moravian Church. Great Sabbath is the day after the crucifixion and before the Resurrection, Easter Dawn. This year's service will include Moravian anthems and hymns, and selections from the Rutter Requiem. Moravian and community singers make up the chorus and there will be organ and orchestral accompaniment of the musical works.
The Next Breakfast Bunch
April 4th, 9 AM at Carriage House. Please contact Pat George (336) 971-3429 or Linda Seippel (336) 406-1747 to RSVP.
The Missions Committee will be hosting a food drive during this season of Lent. As we prepare our hearts for Easter, let us help others and share the love that Jesus showed us through his ultimate sacrifice. Until Easter, donation boxes will be located outside the office and on the first floor in the stairwell. All food donated before April will be taken to Sunnyside before Easter for distribution for the holiday.
Wednesday Night Bible Study
As a part of our Wednesday night Calvary at the Table program, our adult Bible study has resumed Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. in the Burke Room. The study is hybrid, meaning you can attend in person or use the ZOOM link below to attend virtually. Each Bible study session begins with intercessory prayer as we remember our individual needs and the needs of our community. We hope you will plan to join in person or online. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83148636498
