Covid-19 Precautions
As we continue to transition into what will be a new normal for all of us, we remind you that face masks are optional for those attending worship who have been fully vaccinated but we continue to ask those who are not vaccinated to continue wearing a mask. We want to insure the safety of our church family as we move toward the time when everyone, including children, are vaccinated. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Brunson Back to School Supply Collection
August marks back to school for our neighborhood school partner, Brunson Elementary. Brunson is a Title 1 school and has many students who could use our support to start the school year with the school supplies they need for success. The teachers have asked for the following items we will collect in August.
- Wide-Ruled black and white “scientific” bound (not spiral) composition books
- Individual pencil sharpeners
- Pencil pouches or plastic pencil boxes
- Inexpensive ear buds
- Whiteboards 8 1/2” by 11”
- Highlighters, preferably yellow
- Snacks to start the year like cheez-its, goldfish, Teddy Grahams etc.
- Ziplock bags for ice bags (sandwich size)
The Missions Committee will have collection boxes outside the church office and at the back door to the church. Monetary donations also welcomed. Please put “Brunson” on your check written to Calvary Moravian.
Please contact Susie McCollum at mccollum.susie@yahoo.com or Denise Segraves at segravesdenise@gmail.com if you have questions or need items picked up.

Sunday, August 15, 2021 | 4:00 PM | Interactive Online Experience & Livestreamed Lovefeast
Save the date for our 2021 Children’s Festival and Lovefeast highlighting St. Philips Moravian Church. Beginning on August 1, 2021, children and adults alike will be able to immerse themselves in an interactive online experience of St. Philips rich history. Using this platform, families can go at their own pace to learn about St. Philips, the oldest African American Moravian congregation in the United States, originally located within Salem.
In addition to the online experience, the Children & Family Task Force of the Board of Cooperative Ministries will distribute “grab bags” to each church to give out to families that will enable all to more fully participate in the Festival activities, which include:
- Special, one-of-a-kind coloring book with crayons
- Supplies to create a unique piece for the commemorative archival addition
- Story and Stretch Video
- Fireside Book Chat
- Godly Play Story about Martin Luther King Jr.
- Children's Festival mugs and cookies to enjoy during the lovefeast service
- PLUS MUCH MORE!
A livestreamed lovefeast will conclude the unique event on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 4:00- 5:00 PM ET from St. Philips Moravian Church. (Link will be posted on MoravianBCM.org in August.) Gather the lovefeast supplies from your grab bag, or whatever you have at home (juice box, milk, cookies, or bun) and watch the service with children from across the Southern Province and beyond!
Laurel Ridge Counselors needed
Laurel Ridge is looking for 5 more male counselors for middle high 2 camp on July 18-24. If you are available and willing they would be grateful! The campers can’t come if they don’t have enough counselors. Please email Adam Pristas at adampristas76@gmail.com for more information.
The Cookbooks are Here!

If you pay with a check, please put “cookbook” in the memo line. If you pay cash, please have the exact amount. To get us started, books can be purchased and picked up at the following times:
· Sunday July 18, before & after worship
(front door of sanctuary)
