In-person Worship Update
Dear Calvary members,
At a called meeting of the Joint Board on Monday, April 6, the Joint Board approved the following changes regarding worship during the Coronavirus pandemic:
Beginning on Sunday, April 18:
Reservations will no longer be required for attendance, and
Worshippers may sit in any of the designated areas they wish, and
Ushers will continue to provide assistance as to which areas of the sanctuary are designated for seating, and
Worshippers may participate in praying the liturgy and singing hymns (with a mask), and
Up to 90 people, not including the worship team, may attend in the downstairs area, and
Visitors may attend.
All other guidelines such as wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing remain in effect. Other safety guidelines previously used, including the use of the front door for entrance and exit will remain in effect.
We ask for your continued prayers as we take steps to further reopen the sanctuary for in-person worship.
In Christ,
The Joint Board
Weekly Bible Study will resume on April 21st. Have a wonderful week!
Communications Update
On March 15, the Joint Board voted to enact some new strategies for the publications Calvary produces. Starting this summer, the Calvary Connection will move to a quarterly system with issues published August, November, February, and May. This will enable the staff to put out a more robust newsletter with articles topical to the liturgical season on the whole.
Many of the monthly segments of the newsletter will be moved to our weekly email, especially the first-of-the-month edition. This includes board and financial updates. If you need a mailed paper copy of those please email Jacob at jacob@calvarymoravian.org or call the church office and we will be happy to mail a copy to you at the beginning of the month. Please let us know in the months of April & May whether this is something your household will need. The May newsletter will be a regular edition and then we will take a summer hiatus in June & July before unveiling the new edition of the Calvary Connection in August! We are also very excited to be developing a new format for the weekly bulletins as we look towards the future when the pandemic is over. We will be moving to a larger format bulletin that will be more readable and save on printing costs from the current booklet format.
The Missions Committee April Donation Request
In April, the Missions Committee is asking the congregation to help City with Dwellings restock their shelves with ground coffee, granulated sugar, and coffee creamer. Donations may be dropped off at the back door of the church on Mondays through Thursdays, from 9:00 - 12:30 or 1:30 - 3:00.
Please ring the bell, and place your items on the table inside.
Spring Blood Drive
Roll up your sleeve!
Calvary will host a Spring Blood Drive on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 2:30- 6:30 PM. The Red Cross is in desperate need of blood right now! In the fall we had over 25 people register to donate; can we make it to 25 this time!
Please follow these steps to register for a time:
In the upper right-hand corner, type “27101” into the “Find a Blood Drive” locator.
Next, find “Refine Search” and select “Chose My Dates” under the “Date Range” section. Put in April 20th (or any date range including the 20th). Click “Refine Results.”
Lastly, find Calvary’s name and select “See Times” to sign up for a time slot.
Once again, we will be in the “Bloodmobile” which will be located in the parking lot behind the church. Please remember to wear your mask and maintain social distancing! Thank you!
A Calvary Collaborative Cookbook!
We had such a great time making our Calvary Family Quilt that we’ve decided to also make a new Calvary Family Cookbook! We want EVERYONE to be involved. Please submit 3–6 of your favorite recipes so you can be represented in our cookbook. We’re using a specialty website to collect recipes online (this will save our data entry team a lot of time; directions and further details are in Sunday’s bulletin and the monthly newsletter). If you cannot submit recipes at the website, a volunteer can enter them for you. Reach out to Lydia Ingram with any questions: Lydia.K.Ingram@gmail.com, or (210) 882-0241.
Kindly submit all recipes no later than April 18.
